Director, Academic Planning Unit
Vincent A. Asuru is a Professor of Educational Measurement and Evaluation. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Education and Political Science from the University of Port Harcourt and LLB & BL degrees from the Rivers State University and the Nigerian Law School Abuja, respectively.
He also holds M.Ed and PhD degrees in Educational Evaluation from the International Centre for Educational Evaluation (ICEE), University of Ibadan, Nigeria. As Part of his quest for improved pedagogical delivery, he studied for and was awarded a Master Trainer Certificate in Study Technology from Applied Scholastics International, St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
He has for over three decades now been teaching and researching at the department of Educational Psychology, Guidance and Counselling, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, (formerly, Rivers State College of Education). He has served the then College and now the University in various capacities, having been Chairman and member of over forty-five Committees and panels.
Prof. Asuru has served as Director of the following units in then College and now University; School of Remedial and Extra Mural Studies, Teaching Practice, General Studies and for the past six years, Director, Academic Planning (DAP), which he combines with his new position as Dean, Faculty of Education. He was also the Head of St. John’s Diobu Campus and at different times served as Senate representative in the University Governing Council.
A versatile and widely travelled scholar, Prof, Asuru is a member of many national and international learned and professional societies and associations. He is a recipient of several awards, including Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration (FCAI) and Fellow of Nigerian Association of Special Education Teachers. He is a member of Nigeria Academy of Education.
Prof. Asuru has over ninety publications in reputable national and international journals, book chapters and conference proceedings to his credit and has attended over fifty national and international conferences and workshops. He is a commentator on topical issues and has presented over twenty topical television and radio talks. Asuru serves as editor/reviewer /assessor to several national and international journals as well as external examiner to many Universities.
Prof. Asuru, having benefitted enormously from community endeavour, is passionate about community life. He has at different times served as Chairman, Secretary and member of several community-based organizations (CBOs) at social, religious and cultural levels. He is a Knight of the honoured Order of St. Mulumba, Nigeria where he currently serves as the Grand Knight of the Sanguis Christi subordinate council. He is also a Justice of the Peace, conferred on him by the Rivers State Government.
In the face of his numerous academic, social, cultural, religious and community responsibilities, Prof. Asuru is a consummate family man and is passionate about his family. He is happily married to Lady Chikanele Asuru, PhD. To the glory of God, the marriage is blessed with five children.

She holds Masters Degree (M.Ed) in Educational Management and Planning from former University of Science and Technology Nkpolu, now Rivers State University. And she also obtained a Doctorate Degree (PhD) from University of Port Harcourt.
Dr. Huldah Ilogu served as member, Disciplinary Committee, Monitoring Officer for nominal roll at the establishment unit.
She served as Chief Planning Officer for six years of which three years, she headed the Academic Planning Unit. During the tenure she held the position of an Auditor in the Committee of Directors of Academic Planning of Nigerian Universities (CODAPNU). She is University Mace Bearer for about eight years.
She rose to be the current Deputy Director, Academic Planning Unit, office of the Vice Chancellor, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Rumuolumeni.
She has attended eleven conferences when she was heading the unit. She has received many awards including Fellow Institute of Policy Management development (FIPMD), Member, Institute of Planning, Nigeria (MIPN) Member Nigeria Institute of Management (MNIM). She is a licensed Lay Reader of the Anglican Communion, Church of Nigeria and also an Archdeacon’s wife. She is happily married with children. In addition, she is a respected woman leader in the church. As God will have it, the Rivers State Government conferred on her Justice of Peace.
Deputy Registrar, Academic Planning Commitee
CHIOMA EMEJURU is currently a Deputy Registrar, Academic Planning Unit, Office of the Vice Chancellor, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni.
Prior to her present posting, she had worked as an Assistant Registrar, Establishment unit, Transcript officer, Exams and Records unit, school officer, School of Basic Studies(St. John’s Campus Diobu), Pioneer Faculty officer, Faculty of Humanities, Admissions officer, Admissions Unit.
She obtained her National Certificate of Education (NCE) in Primary/Health Education from Rivers State College of Education now Ignatius Ajuru University of Education in 1991. She also has B.Ed. in Physical/Health Education from University of Ibadan and also a Masters degree (M.Ed.) in Educational Evaluation.
She is a fellow of the prestigious Institute of Corporate Administration (FCAI) as well as member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM).
She has attended several capacity building, workshops and Seminars both locally and outside the country to her credit. She is happily married with five children.

OTOKWALA FLORENCE AWAJI-INOM is a Senior Confidential Secretary, Academic Planning Unit of the Vice Chancellor’s office. She holds a Bachelor degree in Business Education (Secretarial option) from University of Ibadan. She has attended some capacity building workshops and Seminars.

IKENGA SOLOMON Egbunewhu is Administrative officer in Academic Planning Unit, office of the Vice-Chancellor, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni. He had worked in Estate department, Establishment Unit, Central Administration office. Academic office, Students Affairs Unit, Admission office and faculty officer office, Faculty of Science. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Marketing, Rivers State University of Science and Technology Port Harcourt now Rivers State University. He is married with children.
